Management
of electronic serial subscriptions is a challenge faced
by any library, regardless of nature. TDNet is an integrated
package which brings together subscriptions from various
publishers and vendors, into one coherent package. This
session looks at how TDNet achieves this, along with
its advanced features like searching and current awareness
alerts.

The provision of service to remote users is a challenge faced by an increasing
number of libraries today. This is particularly the case for the Australia
Government's Department of Family and Community Services Library, which
has clients not just in different geographic locations but various organisations
(all of which come under the one broad portfolio). Over the past year I
have been developing access to TDNet, an ingetrator of electronic journal
access, for clients of the FaCS Library, who are extremely diverse and
spread right across Australia. My presentation will cover:
- the concept of an electronic
journal management package, and how important it is for library clients
- how TDNet compares to
other products in the marketplace
- description of TDNet's
key features such as search, keyword alerts, table of contents alerts,
and ordering items
- the customisability
of TDNet to suit a particular library's needs
