Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton

Hillary Rodham Clinton was elected United States Senator from New York on November 7, 2000. Senator Clinton is recognized around the world as an advocate for democracy, religious tolerance, education and human rights.

President and Mrs. Clinton kicked off the Save America’s Treasures program in 1998. Save America’s Treasures is a national effort to protect "America's threatened cultural treasures, including historic structures, collections, works of art, maps and journals that document and illuminate the history and culture of the United States."

The LearningTimes community of information service professionals highly values the preservation of primary source materials. In an increasingly technology-based and technology-dependent information culture, the need to remain diligent about preserving the irreplacable is paramount. No amount of digitization can replace the learning moments realized when one is able to touch history and bear witness to historical fact. Senator Clinton's continued efforts in this regard have done a service to all who value the guardianship and dissemination of information that contributes to an educated, information literate society.

From Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton:

"It gives me great honor to accept one of the Innovations in Information Services Awards from LearningTimes. As this organization knows, I believe it is essential that our society treasures its cultural artifacts and keep these sources of learning protected for future generations. I want to thank LearningTimes for their efforts to uphold these values by recognizing the people and organizations that share similar goals."
